Marissa Splinter (1992) is een kunstenaar uit Amsterdam, Nederland. Ze werkt met fotografie en film. In 2014 behaalde ze haar BA in Autonome Fotografie aan de Willem de Kooning Academie.
Als kind bladerde ze eindeloos door familiealbums. Hoe vaak ze de beelden ook zag, ze bleven haar telkens boeien. Marissa vulde haar dagboeken met woorden om haar ervaringen vast te leggen. Schuilde daarin al het verlangen om alledaagse momenten niet te vergeten, te herinneren, vast te leggen en deze momenten een blijvende plek te geven?
Tijdens haar afstudeerproject Pubermeisjes, waarin ze de kwetsbaarheid van pubermeisjes visueel voelbaar maakte, ontdekte ze dat echte verbinding ontstaat in persoonlijke, menselijke verhalen. In een wereld waarin alles maakbaar lijkt en iedereen snel wil gaan, zoekt zij naar het alledaagse, het stille, het echte. In latere projecten zoals How I Remember You en Oma verdiept ze dit thema verder. Ze onderzoekt hoe herinnering, nabijheid en vergankelijkheid zich verhouden tot beeld. Of het nu om mensen, architectuur of natuur gaat, steeds zoekt ze naar sporen van aanwezigheid, naar de plekken waar contact voelbaar blijft, ook als iemand of iets er niet meer is.
Marissa is gefascineerd door lichaamstaal en manieren waarop contact wordt gemaakt. Haar oog valt op hoe er contact wordt gemaakt tussen de schaduw van een boom en een gebouw. Ze observeert met warmte en aandacht en legt momenten vast die tijdloos, herkenbaar en tegelijk intiem zijn. Haar beelden ademen altijd een gevoel van verbinding tussen mensen, tussen licht en ruimte, en tussen architectuur en natuur die met elkaar in relatie staan.
Haar werk is een ode aan de liefde en warmte die schuilgaan in alledaagse momenten. Ze wil stilstaan, kijken en voelen, naar wat vaak onopgemerkt blijft. Haar beelden herinneren eraan dat verbinding overal aanwezig is, als we maar goed kijken.

Marissa Splinter (1992) is an artist based in Amsterdam. She works with photography and film. In 2014, she obtained her BA in Autonomous Photography from the Willem de Kooning Academy.
As a child, she would lose herself for hours in family albums. No matter how many times she turned their pages, the images never stopped drawing her in. Marissa filled her diaries with words, trying to capture her experiences. Could it be that, even then, there was already a quiet longing to hold on to everyday moments, to remember them, to preserve them, and to give them a lasting place?
During her graduation project ‘Pubermeisjes’ (Teenage Girls), in which she made the vulnerability of adolescence almost tangible, she realized that true connection is found in personal, human stories. In a world that seems carefully constructed and always in a hurry, she seeks the ordinary, the quiet, and the true.
In later projects such as ‘How I Remember You’ and ‘Oma’, she continues to explore this theme. She explores how memory, intimacy, and the fleeting nature of things take shape within the image. Whether capturing people, architecture, or nature, she seeks traces of presence, the places where contact lingers, even when someone or something is no longer there. Watching, observing, listening, and storytelling form the essence of her practice. The intimate moments captured in family albums and the small, universal details of everyday life continually return in her images.
Her work is an ode to the quiet love and warmth hidden in everyday moments. She invites us to pause, to look closely, and to feel what often passes unnoticed. Her images remind us that connection is always present, if only we take the time to truly see it.

Issa Print, an online webshop with photography prints in various editions, with a special emphasis on larger editions of 27 or 17 copies. Besides the larger editions, there are also prints available in an edition of 7, which are part of Marissa's ongoing conceptual projects.
